The Endowment
Investing for Our Future:
The Community Foundation of Johnson County has a long-term goal of securing resources to address the changing needs of the community it serves. The Community Foundation is a unique vehicle for giving back and paying forward in our community. Most nonprofit organizations operate with funds raised that year; every dollar spent on programs is raised through ticket or product sales, fees for services or an annual fundraising drive. Larger organizations, however build an effective investment program, using interest from the endowment to relieve the burden of annual fundraising and to provide seed money for new programs.
Endowment Defined
A fund of gifts and bequests subject to a requirement that the principal be maintained intact and invested to create an ongoing source of income for a specific purpose. The principal remains in perpetuity, or for a defined period of time or until sufficient assets have been accumulated to achieve a designated purpose.
The Community Foundation is a unique vehicle for organizations of all sizes and individuals of all means to build long-term endowment together for a better community tomorrow.
