Theisen’s gives ‘More for Your Community’ award to CFJC
Theisen’s announced a “More for Your Community” grant to the Community Foundation of Johnson County.
This is the second consecutive year that Theisen has awarded grants to help Iowans. The company, located in Coralville and headquartered in Dubuque, Iowa, made awards totaling $126,851 to 56 agencies serving families and children.
The Community Foundation of Johnson County received $5,000 to fund Hometown Heroes scholarships. The Hometown Heroes grant will provide 20 scholarships to benefit at-risk, under-privileged school-age students with learning opportunities to attend curricular academic, art, music and athletic summer camps.
Theisen’s President Jim Theisen said, “We are excited to help nonprofit organizations and their volunteers meet the most important needs of children and families. We are proud of the communities we serve and want to see them flourish.”
Theisen’s operates 19 home, farm and auto stores throughout eastern and central Iowa. New stores recently opened in Coralville and Cedar Rapids.
Coralville store manager Jacob Johnston presented the check to Community Foundation board member Scott Pantel, and Linda Schreiber, grant writer. Johnston said, “Theisen’s is pleased to be in the Johnson County area and looks forward to new opportunities to serve the community.”
Foundation executive director Mike Stoffregen said, “Hometown Heroes grants provide educational benefits and opportunities to encourage positive behavior in children.”
The Community Foundation of Johnson County is the preferred vehicle to build a stronger community through philanthropy. Founded in 2000, the Community Foundation of Johnson County is a permanent, community endowment built with gifts from local individuals, families, businesses and organizations committed to a strong future for Johnson County. To date, CFJC has raised $6.6 million in assets, and distributed more than $3.36 million to charitable projects throughout Johnson County. The Foundation administers its endowed assets at a minimal cost of only 1.249 percent to accomplish its goals – build an endowment for the greater community good. For Good . . . For Ever.
