Greater Iowa City Area Dollars for Scholars "Dam to Downtown" 10k run

The 3rd Annual Greater Iowa City Area Dollars for Scholars 10k "Dam to Downtown" run will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011. Starting at the Coralville dam, runners will enjoy a scenic run which includes parts of the Iowa River and finishes at College Green Park in Iowa City. All proceeds will fund scholarships for high school students in the Iowa City area. More than 200 runners are expected to participate. Register for the race here.

2011 Tee Off for Philanthropy | Team Up for Community 5th annual golf outing

The 5th annual Tee Off for Philanthropy ‌‌‌| Team Up for Community Golf Outing will be held Monday, May 23, 2011, at Brown Deer Golf Course in Coralville. The annual tournament that benefits Johnson County nonprofit organizations and the Community Foundation of Johnson County is held on the Monday before the nationally observed Memorial Day holiday.

Grant Writing 200: Prerequisite for CFJC funding

The Community Foundation of Johnson County (CFJC) will host Grant Writing 200 for staff of area nonprofit organizations Wednesday, June 22. Jill Smith, the Larned A. Waterman Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center, will present the morning workshop geared to grant writing and a review of the CFJC's on-line grant application process. In the afternoon, Smith will present Strategic Planning for Nonprofits. Nonprofit organization board members are invited to this portion of the workshop.

2011 Healthy Kids Walk / Run

United Way of Johnson County, Community Foundation of Johnson County and the Iowa City Community School District Foundation united to raise funds to establish school-based health clinics to serve all students with unmet medical needs. Healthy Kids Community Care was launched in January 2008. Last year, volunteers hosted a walk / run that raised more than $20,000 for the Healthy Kids Endowment Fund and drew nearly 300 walkers and runners. A second fund-raising walk / run to benefit Healthy Kids Community Care will held Sunday, August 28, 2011.
