Golfers, duffers can donate to philanthropy

IOWA CITY – The Community Foundation of Johnson County is reaching out to golfers and duffers alike. The Community Foundation that supports local nonprofits and helps philanthropists establish charitable funds needs 2,000 golf balls for a “charity ball drop.”

The Charity Ball Drop will be held following the Community Foundation’s annual Tee Off | Team Up for Philanthropy golf outing at 6 p.m. The tournament will be held at Brown Deer Golf Course on Monday, May 23.

Nonprofit organizations will have an opportunity to sell raffle tickets for this opportunity to win up to $10,000 in prize money.

Golf balls are needed by May 19 and may be dropped off at the Community Foundation office at 325 East Washington Street, Iowa City or arrangements can be made to pick up by contacting Mike Stoffregen at 337.0483.

The Community Foundation of Johnson County is the preferred vehicle to build a stronger community through philanthropy. Founded in 2000, the Community Foundation of Johnson County is a permanent, community endowment built with gifts from local individuals, families, businesses and organizations committed to a strong future for Johnson County. To date, CFJC has raised more than $7.4 million in assets and $4.45 in planned gifts, and distributed more than $3.32 million to charitable projects throughout Johnson County.
