Community Foundation director named to state board

IOWA CITY – Community Foundation of Johnson County Executive Director Mike Stoffregen was reappointed to the Iowa Council of Foundations board of directors (ICoF), a statewide membership association of grantmaking foundations.

Mike Stoffregen, executive director of the Community Foundation of Johnson County, was re-elected vice president. Also named to the executive board were Matt McGarvey, director of The Wellmark Foundation, was re-elected president and Jerry Mathiasen, senior vice president of the Iowa West Foundation was elected secretary and Terry Hernandez, executive director of the Chrysalis Foundation, was re-elected treasurer.

Additional board members elected to service include: Suzanne Heckenlaible, executive director of Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation, Susan Skora, president and ceo of the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend, and Stacy Van Gorp, executive director of the R.J. McElroy Trust. Kathy Bradley, executive director of the Mid-Iowa Health Foundation, continues as a board member of the organization.

The Iowa Council of Foundations also welcomed Joseph Piearson as a Program Associate staff member. Since 2007, Piearson had served as the Coordinator of Youth Philanthropic Initiatives for the ICoF through the AmeriCorps State of Promise program.

Founded in 1998, the Iowa Council of Foundations promotes philanthropy and effective grantmaking in Iowa and serves as Iowa’s Lead Philanthropic Entity. The ICoF members include family and private foundations, community/public foundations, and corporate foundations/giving programs that provide grants to charitable projects and programs in Iowa.
