Community Foundation awards $109,263 in community grants
Forty seven area nonprofit organizations received grant awards totaling $109,263 from the Community Foundation of Johnson County (CFJC). The grant awards and nonprofit organizations were announced at the organization’s annual luncheon meeting held today at the Iowa City Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center. The meeting was sponsored by RSM McGladery’s.
Grant Committee chair Kristin Summerwill said the Foundation received 92 applications requesting more than $740,000 in grant aid.

Additionally in the 2009 calendar year, the Community Foundation granted $633,050 to meet local needs, and continued to build the Foundation’s $5.7 million endowment. And, hundreds of Community Foundation contributors engaged to help 132 not-for-profit organizations accomplish their goals.
Founded in 2000, the Community Foundation of Johnson County is a permanent community endowment built with gifts from local individuals, families, businesses and organizations committed to a strong future for Johnson County. To date, CFJC has raised $5.7 million in assets, and distributed more than $2.54 million to charitable projects throughout Johnson County. For Good . . . For Ever.
